THE STORY

They appear at crossroads, in hospitals, outside burning buildings. Children who shouldn’t be there — children no one can explain. They don’t speak much. They don’t need to. They arrive just before the worst happens, and then they’re gone.

A social worker assigned to a case of missing children discovers that the children being reported missing are the same children appearing at crisis scenes across the city. What begins as a disappearance investigation becomes something far older — a confrontation with the possibility that some children were never lost at all. They were placed.
