Third String follows a group of older Alabama men who find themselves on the football team’s third string — the forgotten roster, kept around but never played. What begins as a comedy of sporting irrelevance and senior pranks escalates when their antics accidentally expose a buried conspiracy in their small town.
The film is a love letter to Southern absurdism — funny, warm, and then suddenly not. It lives in the tradition of dark ensemble comedies where camaraderie and chaos are inseparable.
